Lyrics Back to Top ↑
Silent night, holy night!
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child
Holy Infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace
Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing 'Alleluia!
Christ the Savior is born
Christ the Savior is born
Silent night, holy night!
Son of God, love's pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
With the dawn of redeeming grace
Jesus Lord, at Thy birth
Jesus Lord, at Thy birth

Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight
Many people in the Bible have been afraid in the sight of angels, and the shepherds were no different.
Heavenly hosts sing 'Alleluia!
Perhaps not literally true of Jesus' birth, the heavenly host and us will say this at Jesus's victory.
Christ the Savior is born
Silent night, holy night!
Son of God, love's pure light
Radiant beams from Thy holy face
A reference to Jesus's description in Revelation.
