John Answers the Priests — "Behold the Lamb of God" — Jesus Hails Andrew, Simon, Philip and Nathanael.

JOHN, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to ask him, Who art thou? confessed, I am not the Christ. I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord. They asked him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ? John answered, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not; he it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose. These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.
The next day after, John stood, and two of his disciples; and looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith,
Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. The two disciples heard John speak, and they
followed Jesus. He saw them following, and saith,
The day following, Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip: he was of Bethsaida, the city of
Andrew and Simon Peter. And Jesus saith unto Philip,
